Happy Father's Day! - part deux

As promised, here are is the pic of Grandpa Hassler and Claire on Father's Day!

And here is another of Claire and her Daddy.

Also this week, Aunt Mag came to visit. She is one of Jude's sisters.

She and claire got along famously. We think she might have thought she was another grandma. Which she is for 21 and 1 great.

Happy Father's Day!

Father's day was Sunday and what a day it was! Mike had his first official official Father's day and I think he enjoyed it very much.

Grandpa Deal (and Grandma of course) came over to our house for brunch that was cooked and served by Alison and moi. We were supervised by our Daddy and unfortunately poor Mike had to help out more than I planned. BUT it was a really great brunch and fun was had by all.

Then we went to see Grandpa Hassler (and Grandma) for lunch. So much eating that day! Claire entertained everyone and ate all of her lunch and stars. I forgot my camera but we took a picture of Claire with Grandpa on Grandma's camera so as soon as Grandma figures out how to email it to me I will post it. :)

In other news . . .
Cousin Thor came over to help us out before our Supper Club Friday night and play with Cousin Claire. They had lots of fun. (Please note the chubby thighs . . . too cute!)

Also, we weighed Claire tonight out of curiosity more than anything and to see if she was still okay to be in her Jenny Jump Up. She weighs 22 pounds and 12 ounces. She can jump to her heart's content for another pound and a quarter. Woohoo!

Here is a booty shot for posterity.

We were trying to get the dimples but they are hard to see. Soo cute!

And a general cuteness shot . . .

It's been too long . . .

I know, I know, its been over a week. Wowee zowee. How can it be? So much has gone on! (not really) But a few exciting things (depending on your viewpoint) have happened.

First - Witch Hazel thinks it is October already and grew a wart on her snout for her witch costume . . .

Hazel was all Halloween ready but then we discovered it was a bug bite and dogs don’t like them anymore than we do.

Auntie Alison came over for an evening visit and she and Claire had a grand time.

Claire wanted to spike her faux hawk the other day so we did (with just water). Too bad the chair is black . . . She looked really cute.

In other news, Claire is working hard at feeding herself with a spoon. She is currently rather unsuccessful at it but is improving everyday.

Wrong end . . .

Almost . . .

Success!

The Motley Crew

Since Claire has never been much of a sleeper and can stand and crawl etc - getting her to sleep is a new challenge. So we started putting toys in her crib to at least keep her company during quiet time if she isn't going to sleep. Please meet her friends -

Giggly turtle, tickle frog, monster, jack the jack-o-lantern (she is my daughter!) and snuggle bunny. Oh, and don't forget Goodie.

Evidently they all got into a row the other morning after her nap (her father swears she was asleep when he put her down) because this is what I came to find when I got her up -

Can you find them all in the picture? *sigh*

And lets talk about that mouth full of crib she has there. I can't decide if it is a vitamin deficiency or if there is woodchuck somewhere in the Hassler line but she is eating her crib. I often have to clean specs of lacquer off of her when I get her out of her crib in the morning and after naps. Please see Exhibit A below -

Any suggestions on stopping my little woodchuck? We are still planning a sibling for Claire (however misguided a notion it is . . .) but we need this crib to last for the next one . . . and I can't imagine it is that good for her . . . and she isn't lacking for fiber . . . So it leaves me with one question -

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Could it be an entire crib?

Hazel is 3!

Better late then never seems to be our theme this week but here it is - Happy Birthday Hazel!

Now lets get things straight - the blog posting is late, the birthday celebration was right on time - May 30th. Hazel got her annual corn dog on a stick, a sqwanky hippo and a taxi cab! And she of course always gets dressed-up for the occasion. It was a fun time.

Happy Birthday Hazel!

Ladies Do Not Spit . . .

said Grandma Jude, said Grandma Deal, said Mommy, said Auntie Alison, said Daddy.

And try not to laugh when she spits, Grandpa, it only encourages her.

I guess my kid ain't much of a lady because we are in the throes of the "Spitting Battle." Yes, the adorable raspberry from months ago has progressed into quite a voracious raspberry that we are now calling "a spit" or "spitting". It feels like she does it a million times a day but it is really only probably about forty or fifty. Quite a few if there are also peas, carrot, rice cereal, et al involved. To say the least we are tired of it. “No spitting” is one of the most frequently uttered phrases around the house these days . . . and then there is a debate – do we ignore her, do we just correct when there is food involved, is this just a phase . . . please, please let this just be a phase . . . I am tired of finding little balls of concrete (dried cereal) in my hair, I am tired of dodging mashed veggies, fruit and cereal, and I am really running out of excuses to get other people feed her . . . Anybody want to babysit?

So to remind us all that there are sweet times and sometimes you just need to hold on to something because you feel like the world is moving too fast, a picture of daddy and Claire . . .
